Meeting Minutes (2017.09.23)

11:44

The meeting finished again. Toastmasters in YZU club finished their daily routine again. And they start to prepare material for the meeting next time again. This seemingly endless cycles have become indispensable part of the life of YZU toastmasters. Everything they do looks ordinary from viewpoint of spectators yet extraordinary only when you become one of them.

Don’t believe me??? Believe it or not. Today our new member, Robert Wang, was the best example. I seldom see anyone who volunteers to answer question in table topic session. Not to mention new comer. However, today our new friend who paid membership fee just several minutes before meeting started made it. It looked like there is invisible magic power pushing every toastmaster to reach and accomplish things they don’t dare to try or complete before. Well done, Robert. Welcome to join us!!

The toastmaster of the day was Mandy Chen and the meeting theme was cold callings. I think Mandy must be very rich so she gets cold callings very often. So she wanted to know how to refuse those annoyed salesperson politely. After a whole day of discussion, she must know how to do it next time. Good luck, Mandy.

What came next is John Huang, who has cold hands but a hot heart. As usual, John find tons of material related to today’s meeting theme. It’s a little bit tired to be the helper to control the ppt because I crazily clicked the bottom and wondered how many sliders on earth he put in this ppt. This guy definitely can teach something!! Great Job, teacher John, who has cold hands but a hot heart.

Vivy Liu played a role of a mental master in variety session this time. I think it’s the most profound and difficult variety session I’ve ever experienced. She worked very hard trying to guide us to find goals of our life. Thank you Master Vivy for guiding us.

Mell Hsieh not only delivered her C10 speech but also performed her amazing speech skills. Just like looking at teaching video of how to deliver speeches, every movement she made was perfect. Well done*10 times, Mell.

Berne Hsieh celebrated YZU’s 15th anniversary with his A6 speech. He’s on behalf of YZU to say thank you to all the members. Indeed it’s not easy to run a club, there are too many people contributing their private time to supporting this club and their efforts benefit the people in the present. I think all of us have duty to keep YZU club prosperous and pass down what we learn from senior members to the new members. Thank you, uncle Ber, for inspiring us!!

The future DTM, Hecate, host today’s workshop teaching us the tricks of playing each role in a meeting. Table topic session host, Eddie Yu, challenged our wisdom and memory with tough questions regarding school life which for some members are the memory traced back all the way to the last century. Oh my God!! So answer it without any hesitation to prove you’re still young. Then two senior evaluators, Sheila and Rojer, instructed two prepared speakers and us how to perform much better with their precious experience. Excelsior!!!

Today’s GE almost forgot to call for evaluators to proceed evaluation, however he still did a great job. Countless useful suggestions elevated the meeting quality to a new level, which showed this GE guy is really smart. In the end , appreciate 3 friends, Mell, Hank and Jason coming from Taoyuan club to promote the humorous speech and evaluation contest held in YZU university on 10/21. Looking forward to those funny speeches and delicious
afternoon tea. Oh~ time for late night snack, Bye!!
